Australian Made ~ Love Mae

By Cassandra026 · October 23, 2009 · 1 Comment · 58 Views

Many of you may already know Mae, I know I have had my eye on her designs since I first saw them on Etsy nearly 6 months ago. Mae, makes gorgeous wall decals, made not of vinyl but from fabric, a wonderful idea! They can be cleaned, scrunched and also be re-used.

Mae's decals are beautifully whimsical, we have the build a tree and forest critters in pink and not only do they look delightful, but for boring walls, they are an instant fix. The best bit, I have threatened my daughter with taking them for my office if she starts to peel them! Have a look at some of Mae's designs and check out her website you will be charmed, I'm sure!

I'm Back!!

By Cassandra026 · October 19, 2009 · 0 Comments · 20 Views

I would love to say a big thank you to everyone who has been patient with me the last few weeks, they have been completely crazy. But...exams have finished and I am fully rested after our lovely trip to see my in-laws in Brisbane last week. The kids and I had a ball, we went to Sea World and played by the beach, it was all very civilised and relaxing. So now it's back to work! Before I do, a happy snap...

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...

By Cassandra026 · October 11, 2009 · 0 Comments · 11 Views

I am very excited this morning, nervous too, with my final exam beginning in under three hours, but after it's finished I get to have a hiatus for five days in sunny, sunny Brisbane. Post break, I will be able to completely focus on Smallish, which will be wonderful.

While I'm away, head over to Smallish and have a look at our quilts - the bamboo fill makes them wonderful in summer or winter. But most of all, check back often, we have some exciting things in store for the next few months; our new website will launch (finally), we have several new lines in the pipeworks and we will be at Mathilda's Market in November (Melbourne).

I hope that everyone has a wonderful week!!

Home Sweet Home

By Cassandra026 · September 23, 2009 · 0 Comments · 60 Views

I am all for cubby houses, we had one at our old house, which, sadly we had to leave behind and I had best intentions of letting the kids put up their beach tent in the play room. But as things go, we lost the poles for said beach tent in the move. My new idea? A cardboard cubby house, featuring something they can play in, kick each other out of, and best of all, walls that Jake can actually draw on without getting into trouble!

So when I came across this absolute gem, which of course is totally out of my price range at $275USD (available at Amazon) I was delighted. The Villa Julia House is a real treat when it comes to cardboard cubbies and will no doubt provide hours of fun, with its oversized drawings to colour and it's quirky design.

Australian Made ~ Mini la la

By Cassandra026 · September 17, 2009 · 0 Comments · 20 Views

Mini la la's range of designer pocket nappies is truly divine!! The fabrics (some of which I use in my quilts) are classic and fun all wrapped into one gorgeous little package. And that doesn't even include Carli's range of accessories and posy dolls!!  The one size pocket nappies feature an outer PUL layer and once you pop in the insert, they do up and adjust with ease. So simple that even Nanna could use it!! So head on over and check out the Mini la la website.

If anyone wants to know, Mini la la's gorgeous photos are taken by Kristen Cook - clearly she is super talented!!

Busy Week

By Cassandra026 · September 15, 2009 · 0 Comments · 17 Views

So it has been another crazy week. Everything seems to be happening and everyone seems to have something on. A cute point to note, on the weekend Indi - yes her again - was in the local town fair parade. She took part in the kinder float and walked with all her friends, under the theme 'busy in the backyard'; so of course she was wearing pink gumboots and a dirty old hat, she had fun and it was a thrill to see her in the parade.

Of course, any trip to the fair would not be complete without a hot jam doughnut - YUM - and a play in the park. It was great the doughnuts placated everyone and I got out without buying showbags, balloons or any of the other junk you can get suckered into at a fair.

I have also been madly working on Indi's new quilt. She has kept being put off for customer orders, so I am racing to try and finish it before any more come in. It is quite a big task this one, sometimes my imagination creates really hard work! It will be worth it in the end, it is looking quite lovely (if I do say so myself), but there is still so much work to do, not to mention the decorative cushion that I have promised her I will make to go with it! A sneak peek...

Well...keep checking back, if you haven't signed up for a Smallish newsletter, you can do so by sending me a private message with your email address and how you found Smallish. I won't be inundating people with emails, just every month or two with some special offers and new product lines.

There are new products coming to Smallish so stay tuned!

I hope everyone is having a great week.

Australian Made ~ Olive's Friend Pop

By Cassandra026 · September 10, 2009 · 0 Comments · 146 Views

I have recently found, and fallen in love with, this gorgeous new brand, which will hit stores for Autumn/Winter next year. Olive's Friend Pop is designed by two Aussie mum's Julia and Lea who have created this brand of post WWII inspired clothes for little girls as play wear rather than best wear. I love the fact that it is designed to be worn by kids, not miniature grown ups and to top it off it just looks so adorable! Olive's Friend Pop is a "little modern take on vintage designs, produced in beautiful, but wearable and durable fabrics, for today's little ladies."...and will definitely be seen on my daughter!!

Queen Indigo

By Cassandra026 · September 6, 2009 · 1 Comment · 13 Views

I have done it again, I am adding a picture of my gorgeous daughter, because I can. Today, she wants to be a queen.

As such, I introduce to you all Queen Indigo...

I was utterly sick of being asked to sticky tape paper together and cut out triangles from the top, so I decided a fabric option was a good idea, one the would grow with her head. Only problem now is that Jake wants one too! Oh well, tomorrow, I guess we will have King Jacob.

Too Cute

By Cassandra026 · September 2, 2009 · 0 Comments · 14 Views

I went to Doncaster yesterday to get my eyes tested and on my way out I tried to walk past Metalicus without stopping. Can I say 'impossible'?  Not surprisingly it was a girls piece that caught my eye rather than something for myself, it's so amazing how far down the priority list ladies fashion is, kids fashion is a completely different story.  So I saw this gorgeous dress, all ruffly and girly in a beautiful mandarine colour, perfect for Indi. Needless to say, I bought it. Who could resist I ask you.

A Smallish First

By Cassandra026 · August 30, 2009 · 0 Comments · 17 Views

I am very excited as my first lot of advertising has just gone up over at Handmade Kids. It is also quite exciting as I managed to work out the flashing banner on my own! Sometimes I even amaze myself.  Just wanted to say a big thank you to Jemma, who has been so super helpful getting this all up and running.

Another week!

By Cassandra026 · August 30, 2009 · 0 Comments · 18 Views

Well, another week has ended and barely a millisecond later another one began. Happy Monday!!

This week is set to be a busy one, I need to finish off a quilt and sheet set for a lovely lady in Melbourne, I am working two days in our other shop (look out, shameless plug coming up...ShaverShop Plenty Valley in Mill Park - come in if you still need a father's day gift for Dad!!) and I still need to run my business and take care of my family. Let's hear it for all the mumpreneurs out there!!

I am launching a new section in my blog (right here!!) Top Tuesday finds from Etsy where I will showcase some of the gorgeous products from all over the world made by amazing artists and truly talented people. I will be listing a few more custom quilts on my Etsy store, starting with a pink version of the Ugly Duckling range, as there has been great interest in the boys version. I will also be opening a store on MadeIt for all those Australian buyers who would prefer to buy in Aussie dollars.

One more thing before I sign off. Go and check out the blog over at Skout and vote on your favourite pic (see the three below) in the Art for Arts Sake competition, which finishes today and is currently a three way tie. I dare you to choose!!

A Great New Book

By Cassandra026 · August 25, 2009 · 0 Comments · 21 Views
On the weekend we were delighted to find another book by the same authors, yay! Called 'The Pencil'. It again, features Banjo and his family and tells the story of a pencil that draws not only the characters, but everything that happens within the book. It is a quirky take on the illustration process and the development of a story. It is a great book which I definitely recommend!
In our house we absolutely loves books! Both kids have heaps (as do I) and one of our enduring favourites is 'The Runaway Dinner' about a little boy Banjo and his gorgeous adventures chasing his dinner as it flees all over town.

Welcome

By Cassandra026 · August 23, 2009 · 0 Comments · 10 Views
So I have started a blog. With any luck, I will post a couple of times a week on life - crazy, crazy life, cool stuff that I have come across, projects that I am working on and anything else that seems relevant. My desk is currently super messy, my daughter is cleaning her bedroom and my son is just waking up from a nap. Life is good.
